Chapter 22. PRINT > Preparing files for other applications

Preparing files for other applications

Photoshop to QuarkXPress

To color separate a Photoshop image in Quark XPress, convert it to CMYK Color mode before importing it into QuarkXPress. Different imagesetters require different formats, so ask your prepress house whether to save your image in the TIFF (see page 390) or EPS file format (see page 387) or in either of the two DCS formats (see page 389). Use the TIFF format if you're going to apply color management features to the image in QuarkXPress 4.

Keeping a background transparent

To import a Photoshop image into a drawing or page layout application and maintain its transparent background, save the image with a layer clipping path (see page 274).
