Placing the Guidelines

You'll need to separate your image into many little rectangles. It won't work to try and break them up into ovals or other inventive polygons. Think grids. Just a plain old x and y axis. Just like graph paper or a chessboard. You will be using the guidelines to separate elements such as buttons, categories, headers, and photos from solid areas. If we were to create the grid the way we are actually going to break up the StichStyle Home page, we need to do one step first. We need to figure out where to put the guidelines. Print out a copy your Home page and then use a ruler to draw straight lines to figure out placement (see Figure 7-4).
