Resizing for the Web

1.
To resize this image save the current image. Right now it's too big for the Web.

2.
Now, save the image again using “Save As…” Save it as “masks.small.psd.” PSD stands for Photoshop Document.

3.
Make sure you look under Image>Mode to see that its RGB and not Index. If you resize in Index, your images will not reduce properly.

4.
Select from the top menu bar Image>ImageSize

5.
This next window lets you determine how big or small you really want the image to be. For this picture, make sure the “Constrain Proportions” box is checked (see Figure 3-19).

Figure 3-19. The Image Size dialog box.

6.
How do you decide how big to make the picture? Well, that depends on the layout of the Web page that the picture is going onto. Look at the downloaded Celebrity page to see what size you'll need to make this image.

7.
Resize the image.

8.
Click OK.

9.
Save.
