Color Balance

Changing Facial Tones

As you are looking over the images for the Web site, you notice that some of the models' faces have too much color in them. To make the change, you use a tool similar to Hue/Saturation. It is called Color Balance.

1.
Open the image of the model's face.

2.
Using the Lasso tool, select the model's face

3.
From the top menu bar, select Image>Adjust>Color Balance (see Figure 5-28).

Figure 5-28. Color Balance dialog box.

4.
Hide the selection by selecting from the top menu bar View>Hide Edges.

5.
You still have a selection, but it won't interfere with how you see the edges.

6.
Make sure “Preserve Luminosity” is not selected (Figure 5-28).

7.
Use the sliders to move away from the color you don't want.

8.
If there is too much yellow, slide the slider away from the yellow toward blue.

9.
Try many options until you get it correct.

10.
Before you click OK, write down the numbers you used to create the new facial tone to use as a basis for the next similar face.
