Part IV: Time-Saving Tips for Travelers > Saving Time at Your Hotel

Chapter 25. Saving Time at Your Hotel

Most of the major hotel chains are offering extra services geared to the business traveler. Take advantage of these services plus these other ideas to save time:

Find the most convenient hotel. Ask the person you are visiting for suggestions, or have your travel agent check the hotels near the address you will be visiting. If several people are flying in for a meeting, consider booking accommodations for everyone at an airport hotel.

Confirm your reservation with a credit card and get a confirmation number in writing or make a note of it over the phone.

Book your room on the executive floor if your frequent traveler program membership permits, you have upgrade coupons, or your travel budget can handle it. The additional amenities often include newspapers, light breakfasts, extra service people, and use of office equipment such as fax machines and typewriters.

Streamline your check out by calling up your bill on the television screen and reviewing it for accuracy. At most hotels, you will receive a copy of your bill under the door on the morning of your departure. If so, you simply drop off your key on the way out. Checking your bill the night before helps ensure that everything will be in order.
