Procrastination

We all put things off. Typically, these items include boring, difficult, unpleasant or onerous tasks that ultimately need completing. When this happens to you, consider the following ideas:

Set a deadline to complete the task and stick with it.

Build in a reward system. For example, tell yourself, “When I finish that task I’m going to enjoy a nice meal with my special other.” Or, “I won’t go home until I finish this task.”

Arrange with someone (an associate, a secretary, etc.) to routinely follow up with you about progress on tasks you tend to put off.

Do undesirable tasks early in the day so that you can be done with them.
