Meetings

Time wasted in meetings comes from two sources: the meetings you call and the meetings you attend.

When you call a meeting, plan what you want to accomplish. Keep attendees to a minimum number of appropriate people. Briefly explain your agenda and move directly to the purpose of the meeting. Establish a time limit. Keep the discussion on track by periodically summarizing where you are. When the business has been completed, assign responsibilities, and establish follow-up dates to convert decisions to action; then adjourn the meeting.
