Telephone Calls

For many, telephone calls are a constant interruption. You cannot eliminate all of them. You can, however, limit the amount of time they take. If you are fortunate enough to have someone answer your phone, calls should be screened. Review which calls need a personal follow-up and delegate the others. Messages should be taken during periods when you do not wish to be interrupted.

When talking on the phone, limit social conversation. Provide short answers to questions. End the conversation, in a polite way, when it has achieved its business purpose.
