Chapter 20. Computer Enhancements > Portable Computers

Portable Computers

The personal computer has been reduced in size to between six and seven pounds. Originally called laptop computers, today’s models are called notebooks in recognition of their smaller size. These computers have all the features and capacity of a traditional desktop computer and are available with high-resolution color screens. The latest model comes with a built-in printer. Using the appropriate software, you send and receive email, can keep records of your travel expenses, and submit orders by cellular modem or fax. Traditional spreadsheet and word processing software allow you to analyze data and write reports while you travel or attend class.
