How to Maintain Your Filing System

  1. Keep it simple.

  2. File regularly.

  3. Keep files lean by purging them frequently of excess information, old notes, and so on.

  4. Set up a time, once a quarter or two times a year, to purge files you use infrequently.

  5. Do not bother to file every business card you receive, information you have in another form, duplicates, obsolete information, or items other people insist you take.
