Inflexibility

Bob not only ignores the benefits of planning, he also turns his back on the knowledge that other people have gained from the planning process. And because he has insulated himself from the advice, suggestions, and counsel of people who have shared positive experiences through planning, his hopes for success have generally fallen short.

Bob can never know and understand every detail that might affect him in the future. The world is just too complex. The best he can do is to try to absorb, understand, and apply as much as he can through the planning process. But as long as he chooses an inflexible course that ignores the experience of people who have gone before him, he has no one to blame but himself for his lack of growth and development.
