  • It encourages you to do what’s possible, instead of taking chances on hypothetical estimates of the world around you.

  • It lets you figure out what you personally need to do to reach your short-range and long-term goals.

  • It calls for a lot of self-appraisal, which makes the process more reliable, because the qualities that describe you as an individual are more substantial and last longer than the qualities that describe the world you live in.
