Using Concentration to Improve Study Skills

1. I clarify my purpose of studying before I begin. ? ? ?
2. I stop every couple of pages to review what I’ve read and to ask “What of this will be asked on the test?” ? ? ?
3. I use my highlighter sparingly and only underline really important points. ? ? ?
4. If I have several subjects to study, I just start on the easiest first. ? ? ?
5. I eliminate distractions (TV, radio) or remove myself from them so I can focus. ? ? ?
6. I take breaks every 45 minutes to an hour to keep my comprehension and retention levels high. ? ? ?
7. I clear my desk or study area so my eyes will not have things tempting or distracting them. ? ? ?
8. I set up my environment so it helps me rather than hurts me (provide sufficient light, comfortable chair). ? ? ?
9. I have a regular place where I study every time. ? ? ?
