11.. PRACTICE NEWLY LEARNED MEMORY DEVICES

Unless we practice techniques that we learn, our memory will stay untrained and will not improve. Memory is like any other skill (playing tennis, learning a foreign language, driving a car, etc.). The more that skill is practiced, the more improvement will occur. Take time each day to practice at least one of the memory devices you will learn in this book. To help you practice these memory devices you might want to write the eleven principles of memory just presented on 3×5 cards. You can then carry these with you and rehearse them when you are waiting in line, or at your leisure.
