Chapter 5. It's About Time > Don't Do More: Do Better - Pg. 48

It's About Time The idea for the checklist of who controls your time came from The Complete Idiot's Guide to Managing Your Time (Alpha Books, 1998) in which author Jeff Davidson makes the provocative point that we don't have to be helpless punching bags when it comes to how we spend our time. In his book, you'll find lots more about this concept, as well as more interesting insights into the issue of time and practical tips on making the best use of it. 48 Making Peace with Time An important step to becoming an ex-procrastinator is to make peace with time. Stop obsessing over how little you have or how quickly it passes. Own up to the fact that time simply exists. It's not out to get you, and it's up to you to make the most of it. Quicksand! Don't run out of time when you could've prepared for a foreseeable crunch: Returning from vacation or a business trip means extra laundry and dry cleaning, plus unpacking. Coming off a busy weekend means you'll have household chores to catch up on. Meeting an important deadline means that other areas of your life have been neglected and will need your attention.
