52 Chapter 12. Managing Company Events In this lesson, you will learn how to plan and execute a special event for the company, even if you've never done one before. For-Profit Companies Special events occur in every type of organization. The larger the organization, the more likely you are to encounter special events. For example, you're more likely to be put in charge of the annual company picnic, family day, or a retirement activity for a long-standing employee in a for-profit in- stitution. Some opportunities and obstacles that you want to be aware of include the following: · Your immediate supervisor has everything to gain if you succeed.
