Other Currencies: Exotics

As the world becomes more globalized, more and more currencies are available to be traded. I recommend that you do your research before investing in these currencies. The currencies that are actively traded tend to be safer, and you will most likely get tighter spreads, price disclosure, and price execution. However, currencies of lesser-known countries offer opportunities that should not be ignored. The following sections discuss some other currencies to keep an eye on.

The Yuan

The Chinese yuan, or remimbi, is pegged to the U.S. dollar. As China's economy grows more powerful, however, there is open speculation that the government will let the currency float freely. If this happens, the yuan will become a major player in world currency markets.
