Important Numbers

You should have on hand a list of phone numbers of customer representatives, brokers, back-office staff, and the dealing desk. Make sure that in the event of a power outage or a discrepancy in a trade, you can immediately dial a number and get a person at the other end, 24 hours a day. Don't say something like “Well, I can always go to their website and get contacts there.” You need to have these numbers literally at your fingertips. If something occurs during a trade—such as price spikes—and you are knocked off the platform, you need to call immediately. Or, during a power outage, when you have live trades on the market, the only thing that will keep your trading strategy intact will be your backup communication system.
