MACD Through the Years: Long Term, Short Term, and Intraday

We have pretty well covered the basic operating principles of MACD and have discussed some ways that MACD patterns can be integrated with other technical tools and approaches. In this portion of our discussion of MACD, we review the performance of MACD over decades of stock market history, employing weekly and monthly MACD patterns as well as daily and even intraday patterns. This is truly an indicator that can be applied to virtually all timeframes.

The Start of a Bull Market

Weekly charts are often very useful in tracking longer intermediate and/or major trends in the stock market. Chart 8.15 carries through the first two years following the onset of the great bull market that started in 1982.
