Chapter 4. Fighting the Data Deluge > What about Incoming Paper from Other Sour...

What about Incoming Paper from Other Sources?

It's not just the mail carrier who brings you paperwork. It might be your spouse, kids, parents, or friends, and often you bring it in yourself. The easiest way to handle this paper is to add it to your daily mail processing. Follow the same steps—toss the junk, put the financial documents and reading materials where they belong, and deal with the rest using the File/Act/Toss model.

Paperwork from Others in Your Household

Sometimes you won't be there for the others to hand you their papers. Choose a drop-off spot for them to use (your desk, a container on the kitchen counter, your pillow—whatever works for you) and coach them to use it every time. Do your part by regularly checking the drop-off spot for papers that need your attention.
