Culture of Security

“Culture of Security” sounds like it might relate to the 1980's band “Culture Club” led by Boy George. However, in fact it is the name given to the goal of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to safeguard information security, particularly online. The FTC is active in both domestic and international cybersecurity initiatives. In early 2004, the FTC began promoting “Operation Secure Your Server,” a joint effort with 36 agencies from 26 other countries to reduce spam on a worldwide basis. In addition, the FTC works on information security issues with the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, the United Nations, the TransAtlantic Business and Consumer Dialogues, the Global Business Dialogue on Electronic Commerce, and others.
