Cell Phone Cameras

Even if you do not have one of the new cell phones that takes photographs, we have all seen the clever advertising used by the telephone companies to convince us that we just cannot live a tolerable existence without one of these new phones. But as with many advances in technology, there is concern that criminals will use this advance to assist in identity theft. The concern is that someone utilizing a cell phone with a camera incorporated into it will photograph your credit card or your PIN number and then use the information gained to steal your identity. The reality is that despite the advertisements that make them look so good, the quality of the photograph that you get from your cell phone is not sufficient to provide the kind of detail you need to read a credit card. But as technology improves, the opportunities for identity theft will increase as well. So be a little more careful ahead of the curve.
