Chapter 9. FINE PRINT > Avoiding Late Fees

Avoiding Late Fees

Murphy's Law says that what can go wrong, will go wrong, and that axiom certainly applies to the situation that occurs when you send your monthly credit card payment by mail to the card issuer. Mail can be lost. Mail can be delayed. And after your payment arrives at the credit card company, the opportunity for being misplaced, despite the proverb, can knock more than once. An easy solution to this problem is to pay your credit card bill online. Many credit card issuers, such as Citibank, MBNA, and American Express, permit you to enroll in online payment plans directly with them, while all the others welcome online payments through the many online payment services, such as you can find on Quicken.

Tip

If the due date for your monthly credit card payment does not match up well with your cash flow for the month, many credit card companies will simply let you change the due date for your credit card payment to a date you prefer.
