Chapter 11. CREDIT REPORTS > What Can You Do to Improve Your Score?

What Can You Do to Improve Your Score?

  1. It seems pretty simple, but it is worth saying. Pay your bills on time. If a creditor is looking for a good predictor as to whether or not you will pay your bills in the future, back to the past is not a bad place to go.

  2. Reduce your debt. The amount that you owe, particularly as it relates to the credit lines on your credit cards, is an important factor.

  3. Keep on keeping on. The longer you have a good credit history, the better. This can work to the detriment of younger people; however, they may be able to make up for this in other ways.
