Assisted Living

Assisted Living facilities represent a fairly recent development in alternative housing for seniors. What distinguishes an Assisted Living facility is its combination of housing with help with activities of daily living (ADL). Once again the cost of Assisted Living facilities can vary greatly, depending on the level of health care as well as the level of housing and other services provided.

Legalities

Assisted Living is regulated in only a little more than half the states, which makes it even more important for people considering this form of alternative housing to carefully evaluate the situation before signing on. As always, it is of critical importance that you read carefully the contract and other documentation before making up your mind. Like the Continuing Care Retirement Community, Assisted Living facilities are generally paid through a combination of an entrance fee and monthly fees.
