Wrong Purpose

When Sara developed a serious conflict with her supervisor, she took the problem to her boyfriend, Frank. Frank was pleased because it gave him an opportunity to ge to know Sara better and make her more dependent upon him. Frank wanted to help her resolve the conflict but he also had ulterior motives. His purpose was not 100 percent to help Sara in an objective manner, so his purpose was wrong.

To consider yourself a counselor, your purpose must be to assist the person being counseled to solve his or her problem. Nothing else.
