Chapter 12. The Right Purpose

Counseling—talking things over—is a way to solve problems that have not or will not solve themselves in other ways. Sometimes the counselor (supervisor, parent, clergy, friend, youth leader) will encourage a meeting, at other times the individual will bring a problem to the counselor. Whenever two people can talk over a problem and seek the best answer, the purpose is usually right. There are, however, some exceptions.
