Part II: Setting the Stage > Getting it Right!

Chapter 11. Getting it Right!

Personal counseling occurs when two people have the opportunity to sit down and quietly talk things over. It is a private conversation that leads one party to the solution of a problem. Normally, those being counseled enter the session with a heavy load on their shoulders and, at the end, walk away knowing their load is lighter.

A counseling session can be a rich experience for both parties. The person being counseled can find a solution to a problem, make a difficult decision, and feel much better about life. The counselor can have that warm feeling of satisfaction that comes from knowing that another person can now cope better.
