Identifying Distorted Thoughts

Now review the anger situations that you wrote down in this section. See if you can identify any of the misuses of thoughts that are related to anger feelings. Look for:

  • Should statements, such as “You shouldn’t have been so fast to act!”

  • Blaming, such as “She never cares for others, and this couldn’t have happened if she did.”

  • Labeling, such as “He’s a jerk!”

  • Expectations, such as “I could have done it better.”
