A Closer Look at Negative Thinking

You should now have a clearer understanding of your anger thoughts. In this section we will look at what actually provokes you and at the problems that your anger may present for you and others.

Remember that your thoughts and your feelings are interconnected. So before we continue, it is important to understand the forms of negative thinking that can be a precursor to your anger. You already know that specific kinds of negative thoughts cause negative behavior. Not all negative thoughts are bad or lead to anger situations, but when they are distorted and unrealistic, they powerfully affect your mood, even though they seem absolutely valid at the time.
