Starting Applications from Command Prompt

Command Prompt isn’t just for running commands. You can also use it to start applications, as described in the next two sections.

Starting 16-Bit Applications

On the odd chance that you still use 16-bit programs, you need to either change to the drive and folder where the program resides and enter the executable file’s primary name from there, or enter the executable file’s full pathname from the current folder. There are two situations in which you don’t have to change folders or use the full pathname:
