Chapter 18. Exploring the Web with Inter... > Creating a Shortcut to a URL

Creating a Shortcut to a URL

Another way to navigate websites via Internet Explorer is to create shortcuts that point to the appropriate URLs. To do this, use either of the following techniques:

  • Copy the URL to the Clipboard, create a new shortcut (open the folder in which you want to store the shortcut and then select File, New, Shortcut), and then paste the URL into the Type the Location of the Item text box.

  • You can create a shortcut for the currently displayed page by using the page icon that appears to the left of the address in the Address bar. Drag this icon and drop it on the desktop or on whatever folder you want to use to store the shortcut.

  • You can create a shortcut for any hypertext link by dragging the link text from the page.
