Creating a Macro Library

Creating a Macro Library

One of the problems with macros is that your definitions are lost whenever you turn off your computer. The solution is to create a macro library—a batch file that contains all your macro definitions. Follow these steps to create a macro library:

1.
Type the following command and press Enter (if you don’t have a BATCH directory, substitute the directory where you keep your batch files):

doskey /macros > macros.bat

2.
Command Prompt redirects the output of the command into a batch file called macros.bat. Now load macros.bat into your text editor.

3.
For each macro definition, add DOSKEY to the beginning of the line (be sure that you leave a space between DOSKEY and the definition).
