Configuring Windows Firewall

Now you have to configure Windows Firewall to allow data to pass through the port you specified in the previous section. Here are the steps to follow:

1.
On the Remote Desktop host, select Start, Control Panel.

Under the Security icon, click the Allow a Program Through Windows Firewall and enter your UAC credentials. Vista displays the Windows Firewall Settings dialog box with the Exceptions tab displayed.

3.
Click Add Port to display the Add a Port dialog box.

4.
Use the Name text box to type a name for the unblocked port (such as Remote Desktop Alternate).

5.
In the Port Number text box, type the port number you specified in the previous section.

6.
Make sure that the TCP option is activated.

7.
Click OK in all open dialog boxes.
