iMovie: The Swiss Army Knife of Digital Video Software Putting Still Images on the Shelf 109 You might want to use still images in your movie; a strategically placed still image can make a nice transition between scenes, or you might want to include still images related to a particular clip. You can use images in the usual image file formats, such as JPEG, TIFF, and so on. Import Still Images into iMovie 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Prepare the images that you want to import outside of iMovie. For example, you can export images from iPhoto for this purpose. Jump back into your iMovie project and choose File, Import File to see the Import File dialog box. Move to the folder in which you saved the photos that you want to use in your movie. Hold the Shift (to select a series of images next to each other) or iconid=p450001 (to select individual images) key down and click all the images that you want to import. When they are selected, click Import. A progress window appears; and after a few moments, you will see your images on the Shelf (see Figure 4.17). You work with images just like you do video clips; for example, you place an image in your movie by dragging it to the Clip Viewer.
