Creating Soundtracks for Digital Lifestyle Projects 225 Creating the iMovie Soundtrack Project Create the iMovie project for your soundtrack. Create an iMovie Soundtrack Project 1. 2. 3. Launch iMovie. Choose File, New Project. Name the project, choose a location in which to save it, and click Create. If you are creating a soundtrack for a QuickTime movie in one form or another, import the movie into iMovie. You can use the movie to time the soundtrack you are creating, even if you don't end up using the video track that you import. For example, in Chapter 15, " Building Digital Lifestyle Slideshows ," you'll learn how to create slideshows that are of a higher resolution than iMovie can produce; you can create the slideshow in another tool (such as iPhoto) as a QuickTime movie. Convert the QuickTime movie for which you are creating the soundtrack into a DV Stream file by using QuickTime Player Pro. After you have the DV Stream version of the file, import it into iMovie. Import a DV Stream File into iMovie 1. 2. 3. Choose File, Import File (or press +I). Move to the DV Stream file, select it, and click Import. The file will be imported to the iMovie Shelf. Drag the movie to the Timeline Viewer.
