Use QuickTime Player to open the audio file that you want to convert into a different format. Choose File, Export. Choose the audio format into which you want to convert the file on the Export pop-up menu, such as Movie to AIFF. Use the Options button or Use pop-up menu to configure the settings for the format that you selected. Choose a location for the resulting file, name it if needed (maintain the file extension), and click Save. The Exporting Movie progress bar will show you the progress. When it is done, the audio file will be ready for you to use. Moving Audio Files into and out of iTunes Unlike QuickTime Pro, iTunes can only work with audio files. Still, while more limited in function (from the file conversion viewpoint that is), iTunes is the primary way you should use to convert audio CDs into MP3 files that you can use in your projects. iTunes can work with (import or export) the audio formats listed in Table 9.7. However, you can also use iTunes to convert audio files into AIFF, MP3, or WAV files. Using iTunes to convert an audio file into a different format consists of the following two steps:
