Chapter 8. Sherlock > Performing Searches

Performing Searches

Sherlock can perform on two levels. For casual users, it is pretty good at looking for files and documents on your computer and for searching for specific Web pages. For power users, Sherlock cannot be dismissed as merely a very strong search application. Sherlock’s strength lies in its easy customization. Sherlock is very flexible. From the depths of your hard drive to the depths of the Internet, it scales itself to your search needs.

Searching Locally

Users most often use Sherlock to look for files and documents in their own back-yards—on their computers. Even if you’re so organized that you arrange your pencils by degree of sharpness, this is a valid use for Sherlock.
