Summary

This chapter explored the most important issues in using portable computers running Mac OS X. Many of the limitations of using a laptop on the road have been removed by hardware advances, the utilities and capabilities of Mac OS X, or a combination of both. However, some fundamental issues still remain, such as maximizing battery life and backing up files while traveling. This section also highlighted ways of using your Apple iBook or PowerBook in combination with even more portable computing devices, such as PDAs.

In the next chapter, you’ll explore AppleScript, an easy way of writing applications using a scripting language that has been built into the Mac OS, but is even more powerful and appropriate under Mac OS X.
