Chapter 14. E-mail > Managing Messages

Managing Messages

After you’ve received a few e-mail messages, your Inbox (the default mail folder where incoming mail is stored) begins to fill, making it hard to locate specific e-mail messages. This is especially true if you have subscribed to any mailing lists or daily news or message services.

OS X Mail makes it easy to store and organize your e-mail by letting you create additional mailboxes and folders to store different types of e-mail. Folders are like subdirectories within a Personal Mailbox and are used to organize multiple mail-boxes. Mailboxes are where the actual mail messages are stored.
