Responding to a Dialog Box

Remember that if a command on a menu includes an ellipsis (…), selecting the command opens a dialog box so that you can provide further information about how the command should work. Dialog boxes and some specialized windows in Mac OS X Version 10.3 include a number of different types of options.

NOTE

The controls described next also appear in sheets throughout Mac OS X Version 10.3 and Mac OS X applications. Rather than opening in its own floating window, a sheet drops down from the title bar of another window, such as a file window title bar. The sheet stays attached to the window, so you can move to other documents or applications, leaving the sheet open until you decide what options to select.
