Hiding and Redisplaying an Application

Hiding an application or utility removes its windows and menu from view without closing (quitting) it. The icon for the application or utility remains on the Dock, still displaying the black triangle that indicates that it’s running. Hiding an application merely provides a way to reduce the number of open windows so that you have an easier time choosing the one you want to use.
