Chapter 5. Using the Dock and Applications > Saving a File in an Application

Saving a File in an Application

For utilities and features of Mac OS X Version 10.3, you generally change settings in a window or dialog box and then close the window to apply your changes. In other types of programs, such as the TextEdit word processor that you can start by double-clicking its icon in the Applications folder, you need to save your work to a particular file before closing your work or the application. The following steps illustrate how to save a file in an application, when required.

NOTE

Remember that if you’ve set up multiple accounts under Mac OS X Version 10.3, a user without administrator privileges can only save files within his or her Home folder.
