Erasing a Disk

You can erase a disk if you no longer need its contents and want to reformat it. Typically, you’ll only want to erase some types of external disks: a floppy or Zip disk, an external hard disk, or a CD-RW. You cannot erase the current startup disk (volume). After you verify that you’ve identified the proper disk to erase, follow these steps to complete the process:
