Chapter 11. Making Network and Internet ... > Setting Up a Broadband Connection

Setting Up a Broadband Connection

If you will be connecting to the Internet via a cable modem or DSL, setup may be fairly easy because your ISP typically will configure your Mac for you via an in-home visit or installation software. These types of connects are called broadband or sometimes always on connections.

NOTE

As not all cable modem and DSL connections are the same, the steps you need to follow may differ based on your ISP’s requirements and your particular connection hardware. Be sure to follow your ISP’s instructions and the hardware documentation, if required.
