Indexing Files

Its indexing capability helps Mac OS X Version 10.3 identify the contents of individual files in a specific folder or on a disk. The process works something like a book index. Finder builds its behind-the-scenes list of keywords and identifies the file in which each is located. Then, if you search for one of those keywords, the Finder can identify the relative files more quickly. Finder does index on its own when you perform a search, but you should also index your hard disks periodically to keep the index current. To create an index:
