Chapter 16. Traveling the Web

Several years ago, my husband had a running joke with friends that the World Wide Web was “just a fad.” Of course, his irony proved to be right on the mark and the World Wide Web evolved into a powerful and pervasive storehouse of information, products, and services. Twenty-four hours a day you can use the Web to perform research, get news, play games, shop for products, browse auctions, and more. Mac OS X Version 10.2 Jaguar includes the Internet Explorer 5.2 Web browser program, which you can use to surf and search your way to the information you need. In this chapter, you’ll learn how to:

  • Start and exit Internet Explorer

  • Navigate with links, URLs, and buttons

  • Visit and save favorite site locations

  • Search for more information about a particular topic

  • Download a file that you’ve found
