Once you’ve downloaded and unstuffed a software program or have pulled the CD-ROM out of its packaging, you can begin the install process immediately. A single file is used to start the installer program, which, in turn, guides you through all the installation steps. The install process varies a bit from program to program, and the process starts out a bit differently depending on whether you’re installing from a CD-ROM or a downloaded file.
NOTE
Not all downloaded programs require installation. In some cases, you can simply go to the folder that holds the unstuffed files and double-click on a startup icon to start the program.
