Reviewing the Desktop Menus

Virtually every computer program includes a set of commands and options you can find and access via menus. Like other programs, the Finder offers a series of pull-down menus that are found on the menu bar that spans the top of the desktop. When you click on the name of a pull-down menu on the menu bar, the menu appears, listing its commands. When you start or choose another application in Mac OS X Version 10.2, its menu bar will replace the Finder menu bar at the top of the desktop.

NOTE

If you’ve used a prior Macintosh operating system, you may be tempted to skip over this introduction to the Mac OS X Version 10.2 menus. However, the menus have changed substantially in all versions of Mac OS X, so you should pause to review this section.
