Chapter 9.  Setting Up the Desktop  > Changing Dock Settings

Changing Dock Settings

If you’re not quite satisfied with how the Dock looks, you can make a few cosmetic changes, as well as some functional ones. For example, you can

  • Alter the size (height) of the Dock.

  • Add magnification (which causes a Dock icon to zoom to a larger size when you position the mouse pointer over the icon).

  • Change the Dock’s position onscreen for your convenience.

  • Turn off the animation effect when you open an application, undock a window from the Dock, or choose an animation style for minimizing.

  • Turn on the auto hide feature (which hides the Dock until you move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen or to the location where you’ve placed the Dock.)
